Kerry is as much a destination for its scenery and heritage as its golf. The Ring of Kerry, Skellig Michael, Killarney National Park and the Dingle Peninsula are among the most visited landscapes in Ireland — and most of them are within an hour of the nearest tee.
The 179km Ring of Kerry (N70 circular) is one of Ireland's most famous scenic drives — passing Killorglin, Cahersiveen, Waterville, Kenmare and back through Killarney. The route takes in the golf courses at Dooks, Waterville, Ring of Kerry GC and Kenmare. Allow a full day or break it across two half-days either side of a round. Drive anti-clockwise for the best coastal views.

Ireland's oldest and most celebrated national park surrounds the Lakes of Killarney — the same lakes that serve as backdrop to the Killarney Golf & Fishing Club courses. The park encompasses Lough Leane (including the island course of Mahony's Point), Muckross Lake, and Upper Lake, as well as the Macgillycuddy Reeks mountain range. The 26,000-acre park is free to enter and open year-round.

One of the world's most remarkable early Christian sites — a 6th-century monastic settlement perched on a 230-metre rock 12km off the Kerry coast, accessible only by licensed boat from Portmagee or Ballinskelligs in summer. The 600+ stone steps up to the monastery beehive huts are steep; the experience is unforgettable. Recognised globally after featuring as Luke Skywalker's island in Star Wars. Book boats well in advance — departures are weather-dependent.

A dramatic glacial mountain pass between Purple Mountain and the Macgillycuddy Reeks, 10km south-west of Killarney. The traditional way to traverse the Gap is by pony and trap or bicycle from Kate Kearney's Cottage, emerging at the Black Valley and returning by boat across the Lakes of Killarney. The full experience takes 4–5 hours. Recommended for rest days between rounds — particularly for golfers staying at Aghadoe Heights or the Killarney hotels.
Start: Kate Kearney's Cottage, Beaufort Road, Killarney
Muckross House is a Victorian mansion within Killarney National Park, built in 1843 and gifted to the Irish state in 1932. The house contains period-furnished rooms open to visitors; the surrounding gardens — including the formal gardens, rock garden and walled garden — are among the most beautiful in Ireland, particularly in May–June when the azaleas and rhododendrons are in bloom. The traditional farms at Muckross are a popular family attraction.

The Slea Head Drive is the 47km loop around the tip of the Dingle Peninsula — passing Ventry, Slea Head, Dunquin, Ballyferriter (site of Ceann Sibéal Golf Club) and back to Dingle. The route takes in Bronze Age beehive huts (clochán), the Great Blasket Island viewpoint, Dunquin Pier, ancient stone forts and the Blasket Centre at Dún Chaoin, which tells the story of the island community. One of the finest drives in Europe.
